Tooele County School District is committed to being open and transparent with the public regarding school district finances. For the 2016-2017 school year, the district had General Fund expenditures of $94.225 million which was a 8.59 percent increase from expenditures in the 2015-2016 school year. Revenues have increased as well, which has been a great for our district. For the 2016-2017 school year revenues received consisted of roughly 19.69 percent from local property taxes, 1.66 percent from other local sources, 6.19 percent from federal appropriations, and 72.46 percent from state income taxes. In other words, approximately 93.81 percent of our revenues are from state and local sources.
Accountability Reports: Accountability determinations for Utah schools and districts are based on student outcomes and growth. Two major reports are created to differentiate the performance of schools and districts across the state. These reports assist in evaluating performance in reading, language arts, mathematics and science. However, it is important to note that not all grades and subjects are included due to the fact that not all grade levels and courses have statewide end-of-year assessments; Kindergarten though 2nd grade, social studies, world languages, advanced math such as calculus, health/PE, and the arts are examples.
Tooele County School District and Tooele Education Association have reached a Tentative Agreement on 2018 negotiations.
Thanks, in part, to a patron approved voted levy in November 2017, the beginning salary on the certified employee salary schedule will be increased from $37,000 to $42,000 beginning next year. Last year, the increase went from $33,142 to $37,000. All employees (each level) on the new certified employee salary schedule will receive this minimum $5,000 raise. In addition to this, each certified employee who has completed at least six or more years of in-district service as a certified employee will receive an additional two levels or $2,000. The district anticipates covering increase costs to employees, although minimal changes may be made to selected plan(s).
